How Edumaker collects and uses your personal data when you shop with us.
Last updated:
Who we are
Edumaker sells the PLAYmake workshop and its accessories in the United Arab Emirates through edumaker.ae. Edumaker is the trading name of EDUMAKERS ONLINE SELLER, a sole establishment licensed in Dubai by the Department of Economy and Tourism (trade licence No. 1630011). Edumaker decides how your personal data is used and is responsible for it under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021). Please send any questions or requests to the email address or WhatsApp number on our Contacts page.
What we collect and why
- Orders: your name, phone number, email address, delivery address and notes for the courier, plus the company name and TRN for companies and schools. We need these to deliver your order, keep you updated and issue the tax invoice.
- Account: your name, email address, password and saved address, so that you can sign in and see your orders. Your password is stored only in encrypted form.
- School requests: the name of the school or contact person, phone number, emirate and number of children, so that we can prepare an offer.
- Newsletter: your email address, only if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe with one click on the unsubscribe page.
- Payments: card details are entered on the payment page of our payment provider, Stripe, and never reach our servers. We only see whether a payment has gone through.
- Technical data: the IP address and browser used for each visit are recorded in server logs to keep the site secure.
We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell it.
Cookies
Necessary cookies remember your cart, keep you signed in and store your cookie choice; the shop cannot work without them. Google Analytics cookies are set only after you press “Accept” in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. We also count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify you.
Who receives your data
We share data only with the services we need to run the shop, and each one receives only what it needs:
- Vultr: website and database hosting, data centre in Singapore
- Cloudflare: website delivery and protection, global network
- Stripe: card payments, Ireland and the United States
- Zoho Books: accounting and tax invoices, United States
- Resend: sending order emails, United States
- Google Analytics: visit statistics, United States, only with your consent
- Our courier partner in the UAE: your name, phone number and address, to deliver your order
Data stored outside the UAE
Some of these services store data outside the UAE, as listed above. We share data with them only to fulfil your order and provide the services you have requested, and we use providers that protect personal data through security measures and contractual commitments.
How long we keep it
- Orders and tax invoices: 5 years, as required by UAE tax law
- Account: until you delete it
- School requests: 2 years
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe
- Abandoned carts: 60 days
- Server logs and backups: 14 days
- Google Analytics statistics: up to 14 months
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, receive a copy of it, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or object to its use. You can also withdraw any consent you have given at any time.
- If you have an account, you can change your details, download a copy of your data and delete your account under “Profile”.
- If you do not have an account, or for any other request, contact us by email or on WhatsApp. We reply within 30 days.
Even after an account is deleted, its orders remain in our tax records for the period required by law and are not used for any other purpose.
If you think we are handling your data incorrectly, please tell us first. You can also lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.
How we protect it
The site works only over an encrypted connection. Staff sign in to the admin panel with personal accounts, and only the people who handle orders can see customer details. The database is backed up every day.
If a data breach puts your data at risk, we will notify you directly and report it to the UAE Data Office.
Children
PLAYmake is made for children, but orders, accounts and requests come from parents, teachers and schools. We do not ask children for personal data.
Changes
When we change this policy, we publish the updated version on this page with a new date.
