The EDU Set is the kindergarten version of PLAYmake. The home set has one motor that the child rebuilds into each machine. In the EDU Set, three machines arrive already assembled: a jigsaw with a sanding disc, a wood lathe and a hand drill.
This means the teacher does not have to stop the lesson to swap parts, and three children can work at the same time at different tables. These are the same PLAYmake units, so every one of them comes with a jigsaw blade that vibrates rather than cutting skin and a lathe that stops under load.
The box also holds what a group uses up first: a pack of poplar plywood for sawing, 24 lime wood blanks for turning, a service set with spare blades and sanding papers, child-size safety goggles and two booklets of building plans. After class, everything goes back into the storage box.
Good to know
Poplar plywood, 4 mm thick, is the easiest material for the jigsaw to cut.
