Poplar plywood is light, soft and uniform, so a child can follow a drawn line with the jigsaw without forcing the work. At 4 mm, it is well within the 6 mm limit of the PLAYmake jigsaw, yet still strong enough for models that are meant to be played with.
Each sheet is A4 size, so a plan printed on paper can be glued or traced straight onto the wood. It is the same material used for the models in the PLAYmake plan booklets.
After sawing, the parts can be sanded, painted, varnished, glued together or decorated with a wood burner.
